Wartie and Nailner

The brief

In early 2018, Creative Leap were looking to produce new adverts for the Wartie Freeze and Nailner brands owned by Trimb Healthcare.

After finding the ‘One Sweet World’ film we made for Ben and Jerry’s https://fb.watch/l1lXJ3Itig/ and seeing we could handle both 3D and 2D they got in touch with us.

They wanted to commission a 20 second ad for each product, which could work across multiple territories.

The ads already in circulation can be seen here.

The process

We pride ourselves on being able to work with any subject, even the unsightly ones such as verruca and nail fungus.

We thought Wartie’s penguin wouldn’t mind an update and that Nailner would benefit from us looking at the people with nail fungus, rather than the fungus itself.

With that in mind we set to work designing characters for both.

Wartie newer line up

Wartie was a fun character to work with as we’d already created a penguin for our ‘Life on Oxford rd’ film.

Above you can see a few of the options we offered before arriving at the character in our ad.

Wartie set design

We also spent time developing and designing a new set for his hi-tech headquarters.

Nailner early character design

When it came to Nailner we knew that more a adult palette was essential. We also spent time working on the body and facial designs to hit just the right tone. You should be able to see the subtle differences between the above designs and the finished characters in the ad.

We take great care with every aspect of production as anything which looks rushed or below par from us reflects on our clients. Below you can see some of the work and development which went into the first shot.

Client relations

We worked closely with the team at Creative Leap (now 1HQ) and are happy to say we delivered on time, to a tight deadline. As we’ve produced ads for broadcast since 2005, we were glad to handle all aspects of delivery, including Clearcast.

Our experience in this area means we can navigate clients past things which might otherwise catch them out and also be prepared for the last minute changes and requests which come with most productions.

The ads were a success, especially Wartie. The ad has been seen millions of times and is still being rolled out in new territories. Most recently Israel.
