The Dumping Ground

We were very lucky to work on series 3 and 6-10 of CBBC’s The Dumping Ground.
It’s a live action show which included 2 to 3 animated inserts per episode. The inserts illustrated what was going on in the character’s heads and allowed the story to go anywhere it liked. Castles, beaches, red carpets, dragon’s lairs and even for one lockdown episode outer space.

Above you’ll find a catch up piece we made when we were brought in for series 6. Below a sequence we enjoyed making for series 7.

The animations were always great fun to make and got more and more complex as the show progressed and the production team explored the possibilities.

The outer space sequence from lockdown was a specially extended insert of around 10 minutes. It was a much bigger proposition than usual and required us building a bigger team to make it. You can find how we did here:
